Exploring the art of storytelling.

Quick Launch with Little Prep

“Launch” was a very clever title for the first episode of “The Astronaut Wives Club.”  It described the launch of a new series about the wives of men who were launched into space.

I love the pop culture and fashion of the 60s.  So of course, the set and costumes of “The Astronaut Wives Club” were very interesting.  I loved the button-up dresses, the curled hair, the bright lip stick.  There were even vintage cars and classic 1960 suburban homes.

I like how each wife had her own unique personality.  I’m looking forward to getting to know each of them more as the series progresses.

“Launch” was very fast paced.  Several months went by in a single episode.  It was so quick, we couldn’t see the wives’ relationships with one another develop.  I wonder if this is going to be the pacing for the rest of the season; if so, it’s going to be a quickly told story.  When the episode started, I thought the focus of this season was going to be about figuring out who would be the first man in space; that ended up being the focus of the first episode.  Where is the rest of the series headed?

I’m not hooked yet.  “Launch” was kind of blah.  There wasn’t much keeping my interest, but I’m hopeful.  I’m looking forward to the next episode.
