Exploring the art of storytelling.

Moms and Bathrooms! (SPOILERS)

I thought the “Where’s the Bathroom?” song in “My Mom, Greg’s Mom, and Josh’s Sweet Dance Moves” was hilarious.  The style of the music tied in with the family’s Jewish Russian heritage and also made the scene even more frantic.

I do have a criticism about the blocking in the scene when Rebecca and her mother exchanged gifts.  Rebecca’s mother got up to use the bathroom, but when she came back, it looked like she came from the kitchen rather than the stairs.  As Rebecca clearly explained in the song “Where’s the Bathroom?,” the bathroom is upstairs.  This was a silly mistake that could have easily been avoided.

Before visiting his mother for Christmas, Greg made a huge deal about how his mother abandoned him for her new life and new family.  Because of this, I was not expecting Greg’s mother, stepfather, and siblings to be so sweet.  They were friendly and supportive.  I’m glad that this storyline was unpredictable.

Apparently Heather is Greg’s new love interest.  I did not see that coming.  I’m curious as to how it will all play out in upcoming episodes.
