The Coincidental Critic

Exploring the art of storytelling.

The Lanai (SPOILERS)

The-Middle-Key-Art-768x1024

I love how The Middle writers explored a storyline about the dorm housing lottery system.  It is definitely one of the most stressful times at college.

In “The Lanai,” Brick broke the truth to Mike about his coworkers: they only do favors for him because Mike is their boss.  Mike claimed that they were friends.  He found out later that Brick was right.  Unfortunately, Mike never solved his problem.  He never became friends with his coworkers.  He didn’t even make a step towards becoming friends.  That was disappointing and made his story feel unfinished.
